Looking for a natural, non-invasive alternative to Botox? In today's MyChelle Dermaceuticals newsletter, owner/founder Myra Michelle Eby describes how to relax facial muscles using a biofeedback technique. Sounds promising. If you're interested in giving it a try, here's what Eby says you should do:
"For those frown lines on your forehead and deep furrows between the eye brows, try this simple biofeedback technique: Place a piece of masking tape on your forehead while it is relaxed. As soon as you start to frown, you will feel a tightening of the skin and slowly but surely you will be able to control and reduce the mimicking of your forehead, therefore relaxing and reducing deep mimic lines in a healthy, natural way."

Interesting way to train yourself not to frown so much. The tape method reminds me of Frownies, stick-on wrinkle reducer facial pads that you apply before going to bed. I don't know if those actually work, but it's an interesting concept.
I've heard of Frownies. Maybe it is similar. If anyone has tried Frownies or taped their face to minimize wrinkles, I'd love to hear about your results.

Yep, Frownies work. Geez, they'd have too, they're still around after having been invented in the late 1800's as I recall. They aren't a permanent cure, but I wouldn't be without 'em. If you don't wear 'em, the wrinkles return -- quickly. I wouldn't do Botox, so it's worth it to me to wear 'em. I just saw, in doing a search, that even Oprah featured them in her "O" magazine.
I came upon your blog in doing a search for home-made ones. The cost is about $20 for a box of 144, but it seems like it wouldn't be that difficult to come up with a good home-made version.
I don't know what the adhesive on them is made of, and I was concerned when I first considered using them, but I think it's actually good for my skin -- maybe its made from some herbs or something. So far in my search, I've only found a woman who uses surgical tape instead of them. My skin is very sensitive, regular band-aids burn it, so I'd have to be very careful in trying anything like that. But I'm surprised no one has come up with a good, healthy herbal "paste" and slapped it on some parchment paper for a good home-made version.
I've left a Frownie (they're porous) on all day (while at home) and no sort of irration at all after removing it. Anyway, there's a reason the Frownie company has a money-back guarantee, 'cause they actually do work :)

Thanks, Dove, for the feedback. I'll have to give them a try. I've seen them, but never really investigated further. Now I'm truly intrigued. Will check out your website too. Thanks again!
This is great biofeedback information. I'm going to look into the tape and Frownies. I've been rubbing my forehead whenever I feel like I'm causing lines. For some reason I feel like this will help reduce the depth. It does make me more conscience of it.
